Nicki Wedderburn, with Elsa, a year 9 student from Berwick High School who raised £106 for BARK, by doing a sponsored silence for an entire week at school, communicating only by means of a white board to write messages. Nicki organised the entire event herself and was supported by her teachers, neighbours, family and friends.
Dominic Gall was lucky enough to adopt Marvin the Old English Sheep dog earlier this year. Having seen the need for BARK's work he go together with a group of friends, Owen Dunn, Greg McCudden, Billy Gold (Not pictured), Dylan Patterson and Reece Lough and did a sponsored walk. Raising £430 towards BARK Funds. Amazingly his parents knew nothing about it until he had all the logistics and forms worked out. A huge thank to Dominic and his friends for their efforts. Dominic has since gone on to also adopt a rabbit from us, so maybe next year it will be a sponsored hop!
After many months of hard work by over 45 volunteers and thirty five venues, fourteen events, many wet days, even more cold winds, and just the odd warm ones, ticket number 8161 was drawn at the Christmas Fayre on the 20th December 2008, by Lady Rose Crossman. Mr Ashcroft of Ashington became the proud owner of a gleaming red Suzuki Swift.
Pictured are Alice, Sophie and Jenny presenting a cheque for £154 to BARK representative Linda Lee. The girls organised all the sponsorship themselves and walked the Border Marches in their pyjamas! Many thanks to the girls and their supporters.
Many thanks to Beachcomber Stables Goswick who raised £350 for BARK funds with a sponsored ride and BBQ. Another benefit of this event was as a direct result Max our longest dog resident at the kennels finally found his new home.
Thank you to Ian and Susan and Mandy who ran the Great North Run in aid of BARK funds this year.
Mandy raised a fantastic £309.00.
Ian and Susan are still collected.
Many thanks to the Roue family and of course their wonderful rescue dogs Deano and Billy who recently completed a sponsored Hike around Holy Island and raised £330.90. A magnificant amount. Thank you. And thanks to all the other BARK dogs who turned out to give them a good send off
