Concert - Bewick Male Voice Choir - Friday 10th September 2010

Susan

A program of quality as well as quantity was enjoyed by all recently when Berwick Male Voice Choir, conducted by Robin Cheer and accompanied by Isabel Cheer, held a concert in Eyemouth Parish Church in aid of Berwick Animal Rescue Kennels. The programme was beautifully balanced and cleverly included an animal theme song,"With Cat-like Tread" from Gilbert and Sullivan. Mick Bennett and Mike Baglee treated the audience to the Folk song Homeward bound as well as the amusing "The Contemplative Sentry". Two clarinet solos were preformed by Robin Cheer, while Isabel Cheer performed the beautiful song "Send in the Clowns". With explanations and the odd Welsh, German and English lessons provided by Conductor Robin Cheer, there was something for all, young and not so young. The camaraderie between the members of the choir was particularly evident during Rombert & Donnelly’s "Drinking Song". The excellent entertainment provided by the choir was fun and the enjoyment and pleasure derived was clearly enjoyed by the choir and audience alike. The concert culminated in a very rousing version of "The day Thou gavest" performed by the Choir and audience accompanied by Mike Baglee on the Church organ.

Marvin and Friends

Car Winner
Dominic Gall was lucky enough to adopt Marvin the Old English Sheep dog earlier this year. Having seen the need for BARK's work he go together with a group of friends, Owen Dunn, Greg McCudden, Billy Gold (Not pictured), Dylan Patterson and Reece Lough and did a sponsored walk. Raising £430 towards BARK Funds. Amazingly his parents knew nothing about it until he had all the logistics and forms worked out. A huge thank to Dominic and his friends for their efforts. Dominic has since gone on to also adopt a rabbit from us, so maybe next year it will be a sponsored hop!
