Dogs this week wanting a new home.
Please remember when taking a rescue dog he/she will need time to adjust, you must be patient. We do ask for a donation towards our well run kennels, we rely on your generosity. Thank you for supporting BARK.
We carry out home visits before placing any of our dogs. Due to cost and time implications we try to keep this within a 15 mile area of our centre. However, in certain circumstances we can do visits further afield, but would ask you to be patient. There is often more than one home interested in a dog and we will carry out all home visits before deciding what is best for the specific dog. However, just because a dog is placed elsewhere does not mean a home is unsuitable for a dog. When lucky dogs have the choice of more than one home we try our very best to get it right for them.
Thank you for viewing our website. Don't forget about our small animal section.
Todd is about 9 years old and can be a very affection and loving dog. He does have an issue with some dogs but this is controlable when he is on lead. He hates his collar being touched as he associates this with an unpleasant experience, so this needs to be avoided. He is a little bit over weight so lots of walks will help reduce his waiste line. We have recently moved Todd into the cat runs as he gets so stressed worrying about the other dogs. He is so much happier away from the dogs and will happily curly up in his basket and relax. He has been much better and although it is generally unnecessary a quick no if he shows too much interest in another dog usually is sufficient to get him back to the task in hand of sniffing and walking. Todd will suit a home with ideally just the one owner who he can bond with and learn to trust. He can be such a sweet boy with the most loving face it is sad that no one will give him a chance.
Kim is coming up for two and has spent her life in and out of kennels through no fault of her own. She can be wary of men but once she bonds, she's like super glue. She walks well on lead, will behave around other dogs once introduced and has a very loving and loyal nature. Kim needs a home as an only pet within a quite home with plenty of times for walks and play. A large, secure garden would be ideal as she will need to stay on lead for some time as she can be spooked easily by different experiences. Kim would do well at training classes and this would boost her confidence to deal with unusual situations.
Minnie is a very nice 7 year old Dalmatian. She is super with children and other dogs (although we have been told she sometimes takes a dislike to very small dogs), but she is not good with cats which is why she is looking for a home again. She is a super girl and walks well on lead, she loves to be off lead and enjoys playing with a ball. Minnie will make a super addition to most family households.
Charlie is a very long legged lab, around 6 years old. Charlie can be wary of new situations but he is very quickly learning that there is a big world out there that he wants to be part of. He walks fairly well on lead and just loves to play with his toys. Charlie's ideal home is one with lots and lots of space and plenty of time for walks and big open spaces to romp in. Although he has lived with children we feel Charlie would be better with visiting children or teenage children.
Zeus is a very nice young doberman who is good around people and children once introduced. He can be vocal around other dogs but really just wants to play so would benefit from some socialisation. He is walking better on lead now but ongoing training will be a must. He is a beautiful boy who will make a good family pet perhaps with children over 5.
Nicknamed Bob aka Marley, is just under a year old. He is a lovely dog, very gentle and playful but fairly strong on lead. He was put up for rehoming previoulsy but the owners then decided to try and work around their changing circumstances. Sadly this could not work so Bob is now looking for an new home. He is just a youngster and has huge potential. Already he has proved that he just loves a cuddle.
Millie is a lovely German Shepherd approximately 7 years old. She has had some good basic training and walks well on lead. She is very interestd in other dogs but has not been particularly socialised around other dogs so this may need some attention. She is very people and child friendly and generally a lovely girl.
Sam is a lovely 10 year old springer/cocker cross. He is super with people and dogs alike but can not go near chickens. He walks well on lead and really neither acts nor looks his age. he will make a wonderful companion in most home environments.
Pippa is a not very well behaved 11 month old Labrador, but she is keen to please so with some basic training will soon turn into a slighly better behaved you dog. She has been fine with all the people and dogs she has met so far, if a bit exhuberant, she is very submissive around other dogs but desparate to play. Sadly she is a little bit overweight and this needs to be addressed immediately to stop it becoming a life time problem.
Ruby has the making of a beautiful Inu. She is a lovely pale colour and very loving. Ruby has been neglected and is in need of time to recover from the terrible time she has had recently. It is a good job dogs are so forgiving.
The animals below are not currently in our kennels but are being rehomed from their own homes or other rescues. B.A.R.K. takes no responsiblity for them and all rehomings will be private between the current and future owner. If you would like further information please contact the kennels so we may put you in touch.
Ella is a lovely black and white greyound who is going to be 4 on the 3rd of August. She has recently finished racing and is now looking for a new home. She is a very loveable girl who loves children and mises well with other dogs, although she hasnt been introduced to any small dogs or animals. Greyhounds make super pets are they generally need very little exercise and just like a nice cosy bed with a few regular walks throughout the day. If you are interested in Ella please contact us and we will put you in contact with her owner.
Dina is a 7 year old boxer. She is a loving dog but is jealous of other dogs in her own home so sadly Dina is now looking for a retirement home on her own. She is currently staying with her owner until a new home can be found. She loves her walks and is good off lead. Generally when out she ignores other dogs when she is off lead.
Poo and Skippy (aka Rury and Rip) are brother and sister border/Lakeland terrier cross and will be 14 years old on 1st August. They are very good natured dogs and are excellent with children. Poo is rather slow and very quiet in nature, he likes LOTS of cuddles and is very affectionate, although he does not lick, sleeps most of the day but likes gentle walks on grass. Skippy is his complete opposite, very fun loving and bounces around. She loves long walks and is good off the lead as she only ever travels 30 feet in ahead and returns when called, she loves to explore in long grass and her favourite walks are in woodland areas although she is prone to chasing rabbits as is the terrier way. Unfortunately Poo is unable to go off the lead as he is completely deaf and cannot hear you call him back so he just walks and walks. They both love the beach - Skippy especially loves swimming in the sea at Goswick beach. Skippy was was diagnosed with severe hip displasia - and has undergoon 3 major operations which corrected the problem although Poo has a large cyst in his left ear but no treatment has been necessary and it does not cause him any pain.
Although they are very affectionate little dogs they are not very sociable around other dogs. They are used to living a rural life and are not bothered by oud noises. These two should really not be separated and as they don't need much exercise and are used to being left for quite long periods and be ideal for an older home. They are both good on ar journeys.
Teo is a 8 year old collie cross who loves to run and play fetch with a ball or
stick, will always keep coming back for more. He is very affectionate and
loves to lick you all over but is very protective. Teo doesn't get along with cats,
male dogs. He very wary of toddlers, motorbiles and men in uniform. He would be fine with children over 10.
Teo needs a little bit of lead training. He loves to play in the fields and will happily run around all day.
He loves to sit on your lap and be stroked.
